Designing through knowledge
What does it mean? Why do we say it ?
Generally our practice believes in the requirement to keep abreast of current regulations, and legislation that affects the built environment, wherever it is practicably possible to do so.
As required by RIBA and ARB, we attend regular CPD (Continual Professional Development) events, and keep an online RIBA record of our activities, that can be inspected by the RIBA.
If we become engaged on a type of project that requires further knowledge, we will take the time to undertake the necessary research so that we are familiar with the new requirements, and be confident ourselves to see it through to completion on site.
The provision of architectural services, is not just a “set of drawings”. If a client comes to an architect, it should be for design, be it an extension or a multi-storey office block. Drawings, schedules and specifications are the means to communicate the design intent to the client, planners, building control officers, other professionals, and ultimately and most importantly the contractor or builder.
Of course, it does not end with the builder, as we prefer to inspect and administer the contract on site, to be sure that the design intent is maintained.
We feel that because of the above statement and our commitment to it, our practice offers a unique approach to the design of buildings that our clients can ultimately benefit from.
