Environmental Policy

Abp Chartered Architects recognises that its activities could impact upon the environment, locally, regionally and globally, through its routine internal operations, and its influence as an architectural professional services provider on the wider community.  It acknowledges a responsibility for, and a commitment to, the protection of the environment at all levels.  It is sometimes difficult to commercially adopt design and management principles to encourage environmental awareness.  Nevertheless, the practice will endeavour, wherever practicably possible, to:

q

Comply fully with environmental laws, regulations and codes of practice, and set them as the minimum standards for environmental performance;

q

Increase awareness of environmental responsibilities among staff, clients and other companies they are in contact with;

q

Promote environmental management policies and practices at every level of the services offered;

q

Minimise waste and pollution and develop and operate environmentally sound waste management procedures;

q

Continue to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and to incorporate long term strategies for energy efficiency into management and development of the practice, and services offered;

q

Address its impact on the environment through the adoption of a sustainable procurement policy, and try to conserve resources through efficient use and careful planning and design;

q

Monitor progress of this policy on an annual basis, and revise it as applicable.
